K-RAD Media Team Raises Alarm Over Alleged Destruction of Campaign Materials, Urges Issue-Based Politics
The media team of Kunle Adegoke (SAN), popularly known as K-RAD, the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate for Osun Central Senatorial District, has raised concerns over the alleged destruction of its campaign materials by supporters of the Accord Party candidate, Aare Ganiyu Olaoluwa.
In a public statement, the K-RAD media team expressed displeasure over an incident reportedly captured in a viral video showing posters belonging to Adegoke allegedly being defaced. The team described the development as an unfortunate situation that could encourage political hostility and undermine peaceful electoral engagement.
The media team maintained that every political party and candidate should be allowed to publicise their programmes and political ambitions without interference from opponents. It stressed that destroying campaign materials does not contribute to healthy political competition or the development of democratic institutions.
Consequently, the team appealed to Aare Ganiyu Olaoluwa to caution his supporters against removing, covering or damaging campaign posters, billboards and other publicity materials belonging to rival candidates. It emphasised the importance of mutual respect among political parties as the election campaign progresses.
The statement further warned that if the alleged destruction of campaign materials continues, the K-RAD camp may be compelled to seek redress through appropriate legal channels. The team noted that political differences should not be allowed to create unnecessary tension or threaten peaceful coexistence among residents.
According to the media team, political campaigns should serve as platforms for candidates to present their ideas, policies and development plans to the electorate. It argued that the focus should remain on convincing voters through credible programmes and a clear vision for the future rather than engaging in activities that undermine political opponents.
The team also urged candidates contesting for political offices to explain how they intend to address the challenges confronting their constituents. It said voters deserve to understand the practical steps each candidate plans to take, the priorities they intend to pursue and the benefits their proposed policies would bring to the people.
Furthermore, the K-RAD media team called on political parties, aspirants and their supporters across Osun Central Senatorial District to embrace peaceful campaigning, tolerance and issue-based political discussions. It maintained that responsible political participation requires respect for opposing views and adherence to the principles of democratic engagement.
The team reiterated that democracy thrives when political parties compete through ideas, performance, policy proposals and their commitment to public service. It urged political stakeholders to avoid actions capable of generating unnecessary confrontations and instead concentrate on presenting their candidates to the electorate in a constructive manner.
Reaffirming its position, the media team declared that the people of Osun deserve a political environment where candidates can freely campaign and voters can make their choices without intimidation or hostility. It called on all stakeholders to respect the power of the ballot and allow the electorate to determine the outcome of the electoral contest.
Meanwhile, a video circulating on social media appears to show campaign posters belonging to the Accord Party senatorial candidate pasted over posters of the APC candidate. However, the identities of those responsible for the incident and the circumstances surrounding it have not been independently verified.
