ADC Clarifies: Coalition Talks Not Focused on Atiku or Obi – Spokesperson Abdullahi

The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has emphasized that the current coalition discussions are not about any individual candidate such as Atiku Abubakar or Peter Obi. Instead, the focus is on creating a united front aimed at Nigeria’s progress.

ADC spokesperson Bolaji Abdullahi shared this perspective in an exclusive chat with DAILY POST on Tuesday.

“The coalition isn’t about Peter Obi or Atiku Abubakar specifically. They are simply members among many others. Our attention is not on individual ambitions. Of course, everyone has the right to pursue political goals,” he stated.

Abdullahi noted that while presidential candidacy is a popular topic on social media, such debates are not taking place within the coalition itself.

Regarding the possibility of choosing between these two leading figures, Abdullahi remarked, “It’s impossible for the party to back just one person and still call itself a party. That mistake has plagued many political groups before. We currently have no favorite candidate. When the time is right, a democratic process will decide.”

He further explained that ADC’s priority is to build and strengthen its organization nationwide.

“At the moment, we are not focused on selecting a presidential candidate. Our goal is to expand and solidify the party’s presence.”

On ADC’s work in northern Nigeria, Abdullahi highlighted that many northern political figures who feel sidelined by the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) have joined the coalition.

“Those discontented with the APC’s direction, especially from the North, have found a home in this coalition. Most of our leaders come from this region. The North clearly rejects the continuation of the APC government due to how people have been treated.”

He continued, “Looking at the past two years, it’s evident that the current administration has made life difficult for many. ADC stands as the genuine alternative.”

Abdullahi urged Nigerians to place their confidence in the ADC.

“The ruling party’s policies are causing widespread hardship. ADC aims to relieve Nigerians from this suffering. No one wants to endure this pain for another four years,” he concluded.
