The Dangote Petroleum Refinery has denied reports suggesting a shutdown or suspension of operations, clarifying that current maintenance work is part of standard procedures and has not disrupted fuel supply.

Earlier media reports claimed the refinery had halted petrol loading for maintenance but had resumed operations, with petrol now priced at ₦850 per litre at the ex-gantry.

In response, Dangote Group’s Chief Branding and Communications Officer, Anthony Chiejina, released a statement on Friday confirming that the refinery remains fully functional. He explained that routine maintenance is being carried out as part of regular operations and does not affect fuel distribution.

The refinery also clarified that the recent sale of residual catalytic oil (RCO) was routine and unrelated to any supply issues. It reaffirmed its capacity, noting that over 40 million litres of petrol and substantial volumes of diesel are delivered daily without interruption.

Addressing ongoing rumours, the refinery challenged critics to place orders for consistent high-volume deliveries over the next 90 days, demonstrating their continued ability to meet national demand.

“As the world’s largest single-train refinery, we rely on advanced predictive and preventive maintenance systems to ensure smooth, uninterrupted operations,” the statement said.

Dangote Refinery emphasized its commitment to transparency, operational stability, and contributing to Nigeria’s energy security.
