Tragedy in Akwa Ibom: Soldier Allegedly Shoots 13-Year-Old After Confrontation Over Sister’s Harassment

The **Nigerian Army** has confirmed that it is investigating the death of a 13-year-old boy, **Timothy Daniel**, who was reportedly shot by a soldier stationed with a petrochemical company in **Ikot Abasi LGA, Akwa Ibom State**.

According to reports, the tragedy occurred after Timothy confronted the soldier for allegedly making sexual advances toward his 15-year-old sister, **Miracle Daniel**. Residents say the siblings were returning home from church around **12:05 a.m. on January 1** when the officer allegedly harassed Miracle and inappropriately touched her.

The confrontation reportedly escalated when Timothy and his sister verbally challenged the soldier, prompting the officer to allegedly fire his weapon at Timothy, striking him in the head. The teenager was pronounced dead at the scene.

Confirming the incident, **Army Public Relations Officer for 2 Brigade, Mbiokporo**, stated, “The matter has been taken over by the military police and is currently under investigation.”
