Ramadan: Jigawa Suspends Pilgrim Training, To Resume After Fasting
The Jigawa State Government has announced the temporary suspension of its ongoing pilgrim orientation and training programme in observance of the holy month of Ramadan. Officials say the exercise will resume immediately after the fasting period, allowing intending pilgrims to complete their preparations ahead of the Hajj season.
According to state authorities, the decision was taken to enable Muslim faithful participating in the programme to fully concentrate on the spiritual demands of Ramadan. The month-long fast is regarded as a sacred period of devotion, reflection and intensified worship, making it challenging to combine rigorous training sessions with daily fasting obligations.
The orientation programme, organized through the state’s pilgrims welfare structure, is designed to equip prospective pilgrims with practical knowledge about the rites of Hajj, travel guidelines, health precautions and conduct expectations while in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. The sessions typically cover rituals such as Tawaf, Sa’i, and other key components of the pilgrimage, alongside briefings on safety and coordination.
Officials emphasized that the suspension is temporary and does not affect the overall schedule for this year’s pilgrimage. They reassured intending pilgrims that all necessary arrangements remain on track and that the remaining training modules will be concluded promptly after Ramadan.
Religious leaders in the state have welcomed the move, noting that fasting requires physical endurance and spiritual focus. They explained that postponing the sessions demonstrates sensitivity to the well-being of participants, many of whom would otherwise have to balance long hours of instruction with the daily fast.
Prospective pilgrims have also expressed understanding, saying the break will allow them to devote more time to prayers and personal preparation before resuming the structured training.
As Ramadan progresses, authorities in Jigawa State have reiterated their commitment to ensuring a smooth and well-coordinated Hajj exercise. With the training set to continue after the fasting period, intending pilgrims are expected to complete their orientation in good time for their journey.
