Soldiers Kill 11 ISWAP Fighters in Borno Base Attacks

Soldiers under Operation Hadin Kai have successfully defended three Forward Operating Bases (FOBs) in Borno State following coordinated attacks by ISWAP militants, killing 11 insurgents during the confrontations.
The attempted assaults occurred between the night of February 28 and the early hours of March 1, targeting military positions in Mayanti, Gajigana, and Gajiram.
According to military sources, five insurgents were eliminated during the clash in Mayanti, three were killed in Gajiram, and two died in the failed attack on Gajigana.
In a statement issued on Sunday, the Media Information Officer of the Joint Task Force (North-East), Operation Hadin Kai, Lt. Col. Sanni Uba, confirmed that one officer lost his life during the fighting in Mayanti, while another soldier sustained injuries in the Gajiram encounter.
He noted that troops effectively repelled the coordinated offensives, maintaining control of all targeted positions. The statement described the attacks as further evidence of mounting pressure on insurgent strongholds, supply routes, and leadership networks.
The military added that its aggressive operational strategy in Sector 2 continues to weaken terrorist capabilities, forcing fighters into retreat while inflicting heavy casualties and seizing weapons and other combat equipment.
