Osimhen Could Cash In €5m If Galatasaray Topple Liverpool in UCL

Galatasaray striker Victor Osimhen and his teammates have been promised a €5 million bonus should the Turkish club eliminate Liverpool FC from the UEFA Champions League round of 16, according to reports by PUNCH Sports Extra.
The incentive was reportedly confirmed by Galatasaray president Dursun Özbek following the club’s 1–0 victory over the English side in the first-leg clash at RAMS Park. Turkish media outlet Le Marca Sports revealed that Osimhen himself negotiated the bonus for the squad.
“Victor Osimhen requested, ‘If we eliminate Liverpool, let the bonus be €5m,’ and the president agreed,” Turkish journalist Ali Naci Küçük was quoted as saying.
Beyond the players’ reward, Galatasaray stands to gain a substantial financial windfall from UEFA. Advancing to the quarter-finals would earn the club a €12 million bonus, adding to the stakes for the upcoming second-leg showdown at Anfield on March 18.
Osimhen played a decisive role in the first-leg victory, assisting Gabonese midfielder Mario Lemina’s early goal. Just seven minutes into the match, the Nigerian striker headed a corner back across the goal, allowing Lemina to finish past Liverpool goalkeeper Giorgi Mamardashvili. According to The Guardian, his contribution showcased his growing influence in the squad.
The emotional night was particularly poignant for Osimhen, who struggled to contain his tears before kick-off as Galatasaray fans unveiled a tifo in honor of his late mother. Despite the personal moment, he maintained focus and delivered a critical assist to secure the team’s narrow advantage.
Speaking ahead of the return leg, Osimhen praised his teammates and expressed confidence in their ability to challenge Liverpool on their home turf. “Every time we play here, it’s so emotional for us. The victory is important, but we know next week is going to be really hard. I believe in this team and the performance we put in against such a strong side. I’m optimistic we can do some damage at Anfield,” he said, according to reports by The Nation.
Since joining Galatasaray permanently last summer, Osimhen has been instrumental in their Champions League campaign, tallying seven goals and three assists in nine appearances. Across all competitions, he has contributed 18 goals and seven assists, highlighting his pivotal role in the Turkish champions’ attacking setup.
With the Anfield clash approaching, Galatasaray will be counting on their talismanic striker to maintain his form and help secure an unprecedented quarter-final berth in Europe’s premier club competition.
