Nigerian Couple Tear Marriage Certificate During Wedding, Sparks Reactions

A video circulating on social media has drawn attention after a Nigerian couple tore their marriage certificate during their wedding ceremony. The incident, which happened shortly after the document was presented to them, has generated mixed reactions online.

The couple reportedly carried out the act at the wedding venue in front of guests. According to the source of the video, their action was meant to be symbolic, showing their belief that divorce would never be part of their marriage.

As they tore what appeared to be two copies of the certificate, guests at the event were heard cheering loudly. Although the atmosphere at the ceremony was celebratory, the moment has since triggered debates on social media.

Many people have criticised the action, saying it was unnecessary and had no real meaning. Some users also pointed out that a marriage certificate is an important document that may be needed for official purposes.

One social media user, identified as Iamnotarealman, suggested that the bride did not seem fully comfortable with the decision, noting that her facial expression appeared different.

Another user, ManNelo, compared the act to destroying a utility bill in an attempt to stop electricity supply issues, arguing that it does not change reality.

A user known as AfcxOfficial also questioned the decision, explaining that a marriage certificate can be useful for travel and other legal matters, and should not be treated lightly.

Similarly, FETWAB criticised the move, stating that the document serves more purposes than issues related to divorce and should have been preserved.

Overall, the video has continued to generate conversation, with opinions divided between those who see it as a harmless symbolic act and those who believe it was unnecessary.
