... Say Accord Party Lacks Direction
In what appears as political tsunami for the ruling Accord Party and Governor Ademola Adeleke in Osun state, as stalwarts of the party including the current Senior Special Assistants to Governor Adeleke on Governor’s Office and Market Affairs defected to the main opposition party – the All Progressives Congress, APC.

The defectors, during a press briefing, held at Ileri-Oluwa campaign office, attributed their defection to the growing crisis and unchecked impunity in Accord party, noting that their defection to the APC was borne out of internal cohesion, leadership quality and respect for human dignity.

The defectors are: former Accord Party House of Representatives Aspirant, Ife Federal Constituency, Dr. Leye Olagbaju; Senior Special Assistant to Governor Ademola Adeleke on Governor’s Office, Hon. Azeez Kazeem Olatunde; Accord Party Youth Leader in Ife Central Local Government, Hon. Gbenga Ogunmuyide Asamo; former Senior Special Assistant to Governor Adeleke on Market Affairs, Hon. Moyoade Lukman Ayotade and Hon. Ojuolape Olalekan Olagbaju.
Speaking intermittently, Dr. Leye Olagbaju, Hon. Gbenga Ogunmuyide Asamo, Hon. Azeez Olatunde , Hon. Moyoade Ayotade and Hon. Ojuolape Olagbaju said their decisions was informed by the protracted political menace rocking the party.
According to the defectors, the Accord Party led by Governor Adeleke has become a political orphan due to the lack of direction and genuine leadership.
The decampees threw their weights behind the candidature of the APC governorship candidate Asiwaju Munirudeen Bola Oyebamiji AMBO who they described as the most competent hands to govern the state.
They promised to work in synergy with the existing leaders and members of the party to ensure electoral victory for Oyebamiji, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and other candidates of the party.
In his speech, the Director General, APC Governorship Campaign Council Hon Oluwole Oke warmly received the defectors into the progressive fold.
He assured the defectors of equal treatment and benefits, saying doors of the party are open for all.
