Abuja Electricity Company Gives Reasons to disconnect Military and Government Offices
The Abuja Electricity Distribution Company (AEDC) has announced plans to disconnect power to customers with unpaid bills starting Monday, June 3, 2024.
This announcement was made in a statement titled “Notice of Power Disconnection for Customers with Outstanding Bills,” which was obtained by SaharaReporters on Saturday.
Among the customers to be affected are the Nigerian Army Headquarters, Nigerian Air Force Headquarters, Defence Headquarters, and Nigerian Police Force. AEDC stated, “This is to inform the general public that AEDC will disconnect all customers with outstanding electricity bills on June 3, 2024.”
The company emphasized the importance of timely bill payments for maintaining and improving its infrastructure, which is essential for delivering efficient and reliable service. “We therefore urge all customers with debts to pay all outstanding bills before the deadline to avoid service interruption,” the statement urged.
Additional customers facing disconnection include the Federal Capital Development Authority, Kogi State Government, Niger State Government, Nigerian Army Barracks, Power House, SGF House I, Head of Service, and various federal ministries such as Education, Women Affairs, Industry, Trade, Interior, Water Resources, Finance, and Works. The National Stadium, Goodluck Jonathan Athletics Hall, and the Federal Airport Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) Abuja are also listed.
The AEDC warned that no indebted customer would be exempt from the disconnections and advised all owing parties to settle their bills promptly.
