- Breaking news: Hamza Igamane update emerges from Rangers after disappearance …
Hamza Igamane has not suffered a new injury and is having individual training sessions after his arrival at Rangers, Four Lads Had A Dream reports.
The X account run by Stevie Clifford reported replied to a fan on 30 July to indicate that he had asked after the Moroccan and been told a knock to end last season requires him to build up his fitness.
Igamane, 21, was confirmed as a new signing on 5 July but nearly a month later there has been no sign of him during the preseason amid rumours he had suffered a long-term injury that would keep him out for months [Ibrox Noise, 19 July], but the club have denied this.
Clifford wrote: “Igamane is having 1-1 training sessions with the physios & coaches to get up to speed, after an injury at end of last season.
“I asked club on new injuries & that was denied & the above info was shared by Clement.”
Philippe Clement unable to call on new Rangers striker yet
Igamane looks to be one of a few summer signings who aren’t ready to contribute much, with young central defender Clinton Nsiala given a similar classification by Philippe Clement [Football Scotland, 12 July].
But with senior recruits proving hard to come by a matter of days before the new season starts away at Hearts he could do with being able to call on some more of his new youngsters if necessary.
It is clearly a positive if Igamane hasn’t been ruled out for months already, although that would be typical of the Light Blues in recent years.
But with the new campaign currently set to open in much the same way it ended the last up front it is still not especially uplifting for supporters if the one striker who has been signed is so far off still.
