Breaking: Release Nnamdi Kanu, There Is No Reason for His Continued Detention – Peter Obi Declares

Peter Obi Urges President Tinubu to Release Nnamdi Kanu and Other Detainees
Peter Obi, the Labour Party’s presidential candidate, has called on President Bola Tinubu to release Nnamdi Kanu, the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), along with other detained freedom fighters.
Obi argued that Kanu’s continued detention lacks justification, particularly since the courts have granted him bail.
“There is no valid reason for his ongoing detention, especially when the courts have approved his bail. The government must respect the judicial decision,” Obi stated during a press conference in Onitsha, Anambra State, on Saturday.
Highlighting the importance of the rule of law, Obi urged the Federal Government to release all individuals in similar predicaments. “The rule of law is a crucial principle that we must uphold. I appeal to the government to release and engage with those who have been unjustly detained. We live in a democracy, and our actions must reflect legal principles,” he added.
Obi also expressed his concern about the rising insecurity in Nigeria, warning that the nation could face serious consequences if immediate steps are not taken.
He called on leaders to unite and intensify their efforts to address security challenges, particularly in the South-East region. Obi encouraged the governors of South-East states to work collaboratively to combat insecurity and drive economic development in the region.
