Chidimma Adetshina, recently crowned Miss Universe Nigeria 2024, has shared her experience regarding her dismissal from the Miss South Africa pageant. Earlier reports by News Round The Clock (NRTC) revealed that Adetshina stepped down from the South African competition amid controversy over her nationality and allegations of identity theft involving her mother.
In a recent interview, Adetshina explained that her rejection was largely due to her name. She described the experience as disheartening, stating, “It was very painful to be rejected simply because of my name, especially considering I had lived in South Africa for 23 years. It’s a hurtful situation, and I wouldn’t wish it on anyone.”
Regarding the identity theft allegations against her mother, Adetshina chose not to comment, citing ongoing legal matters. She emphasized her identity by stating, “I was born in South Africa and remain South African, while also being proudly Nigerian.”
