Okpebholo Orders Release of AAU Students After Meeting With Deputy VC and SUG President

In the wake of recent unrest in Ekpoma, Edo State Governor Okpebholo met with Prof. Andrew Eromonsele, Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Administration) of Ambrose Alli University (AAU), and Comrade Osadebamen Ehizogie Michael, President of the AAU Student Union, to assess the security situation and review recent arrests.
The governor assured students, parents, and the university community that his administration holds no animosity toward students and has consistently supported AAU more than any previous government in the state. He directed that any bona fide student detained during efforts to restore order be promptly identified and released.
Condemning the destruction of markets and property in Ekpoma, Okpebholo warned that anyone involved in sponsoring or using hoodlums to disrupt the community would face justice, regardless of position or affiliation. He noted that security agencies are employing technology-driven operations to track criminal elements, leading to the arrest of suspected kidnappers and the recovery of firearms. The governor reiterated his administration’s commitment to restoring peace in Ekpoma and ensuring that Edo State is not threatened by criminal activities.
