Ondo Gubernatorial Election: See Reasons Tinubu Encourages PDP and Others Dissatisfied Parties to go to Court
President Bola Tinubu has urged any candidates dissatisfied with the results of the recent Ondo State governorship election to make use of the legal channels available to them for redress.
While congratulating Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa of the All Progressives Congress (APC) on his victory, President Tinubu also praised the peaceful nature of the election process.
The President commended the candidates from all 17 political parties for their professionalism and maturity throughout the campaign and voting period. He credited the success of the election to the high level of civility and order observed in the state.
In a statement issued by Bayo Onanuga, Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, political leaders were encouraged to maintain this orderly conduct in the post-election period. The statement also noted, “Those who are dissatisfied with the election results have the option to seek legal redress through the judicial system.”
President Tinubu reaffirmed his belief in the credibility of the election, noting that the process was a strong indication of the capacity of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC). He commended INEC for its early preparations, timely deployment of materials and personnel, and effective management of the election, which saw more than 98 percent of results uploaded on election day.
The President also expressed his gratitude to various security agencies, including the Nigerian Police Force, National Civil Defence Corps, Federal Road Safety Corps, National Youth Service Corps, the military, and other law enforcement bodies, for their professionalism in ensuring a peaceful and orderly election.
