We Are Not Perturbed By Your Deadwood Re-election Campaign Committee Of Discredited Characters – Osun APC Fires Adeleke
*We Are Not Perturbed By Your Deadwood Re-election Campaign Committee Of Discredited Characters – Osun APC Fires Adeleke*
The Osun State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has faulted the composition of the 36-member re-election campaign committee of the state Governor Ademola Adeleke in the 15th August, 2026 governorship election, describing it as a pack of expired and deadwood political entities who have since exhausted their political capital.
It would be recalled that the names of the re-election campaign committee members were unveiled in Osogbo, the Osun State capital, today, to the consternation of the people of the state who had waited endlessly for the said list.
If that was the only list of his re-election campaign committee that the embattled Governor Adeleke could come up with after a long delay in that respect, it is a signpost to the effect that the lingering intractable political challenges of the puppet governor have glaringly defied solution.
Topping the list is the name of Senator Lere Oyewumi, the controversial senator representing Osun West senatorial district.
Oyewumi, known widely as a violent politician, was named as the Director-General of the Adeleke campaign council.
If Oyewumi is the most suitable material to head the 2026 Adeleke campaign, then the general public should note Governor Adeleke is relying on violence, thuggery and brigandage to win the August 15 election, having realized that he can not campaign on the strength and quality of his achievement and win.
Governor Adeleke is unarguably the most hated politician in Nigeria, given his poor record of diverting public fund for personal comfort and aggrandizement.
Oyewumi was captured on video sometime ago, threatening and inciting the PDP thugs to stone, maim and kill any APC members in sight during the 2022 voting.
Many of his trusted lieutenants and associates are today facing murder and homicide charges in connection with political killings of Mr Saheed Oyegunju, Ward 9 Treasurer of APC in Irewole Local Government Council Area and Hon. Remi Abass, Chairman of Irewole Local Government Council Area of Osun State.
Reading through the list again, it was initially thought that the memories of the discerning minds in Osun State and beyond were playing them false as it was unexplainable what the name of a sacked purported state chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Mr. Sunday Bisi, could be doing on the campaign committee list of the Accord Party governor.
Equally annoying and strange was the fact that the sacked PDP state chairman was even accorded recognition before the pliable state chairman of the Accord Party, Pastor Victor Akande, as the latter’s name was written before that of Bisi, which is a pointer to the fact that the Accord Party is only enjoying a fill-in-the-gap status in the state because of the desperate political ambition of the chief executive of the state.
We can understand the plight of Governor Adeleke and his unpopular and relatively known political party that it was the dearth of quality and resourceful political entities in the Accord Party that necessitated the delay in putting his own re-election campaign committee together before now.
With the unveiling of his re-election campaign committee members, Governor Adeleke has shown to the whole world that the state chapter of the PDP which only changed its nomenclature to the Accord Party in Osun State is desolate and that the imminent loss of the incumbent to Asiwaju Munirudeen Bola Oyebamiji AMBO, the APC governorship candidate, in the forthcoming gubernatorial election, is a matter of time.
