Victor Osimhen Responds to Finidi George’s Criticism That He Can Never Value Nigeria’s Coach Again

In a heated exchange, Napoli striker Victor Osimhen has publicly addressed comments made by former Super Eagles coach Finidi George, who questioned Osimhen’s commitment to Nigeria’s 2026 World Cup qualifiers.

Finidi George had suggested that Osimhen, despite his injury, could have played in Nigeria’s crucial qualifiers this month. This remark has ignited a significant debate within the Nigerian football community.

Osimhen, who had twisted his ankle and was ruled out for four weeks, expressed his disappointment on Instagram. He revealed, “I asked Finidi George to let me stay with the players in the camp, but he told me to stay with my family. Now, after two bad games, everyone is blaming me. I’ve played through many injuries for Nigeria and given my all, but after two bad games, the criticism is directed at me.”

The 25-year-old striker, essential for both Napoli and the Nigerian national team, voiced his frustration and loss of respect for Finidi. “I have lost every respect I had for him,” Osimhen stated, emphasizing the growing rift within the Nigerian football community.

Osimhen’s response has sparked intense discussions among fans and analysts about player commitment and management decisions, highlighting the tensions that can arise in the competitive world of international football.
