I’m Not Witch-hunting Anybody, Simply Trying To Achieve Tinubu’s Strategic Plan – EFCC Chair, Olukoyede
EFCC Chairman Olukoyede Affirms Commitment to Tinubu’s Vision, Rejects Claims of Witch-Hunting
Ola Olukoyede, the Executive Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), emphasized that President Bola Tinubu has never interfered with the Commission’s operations.
Olukoyede highlighted the significant support the EFCC has received from the Federal Government, enabling the agency to effectively carry out its mission.
He clarified that the EFCC’s actions are not targeted at any individuals but are aligned with Tinubu’s broader strategic objectives for national improvement. In a statement issued by Dele Oyewtoale, the EFCC’s Head of Media & Publicity, it was confirmed that the Commission has been well-supported by the Federal Government to fulfill its mandate.
Olukoyede made these remarks during a visit to the Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Enitan Ogunwusi. He stated, “Since my appointment as EFCC Chairman, the President has not instructed me to alter, halt, or influence the Commission’s activities. Instead, we have received the necessary backing from the Federal Government to pursue our mandate.”
The EFCC chairman assured the Ooni of Ife that the Commission, with its current level of autonomy, will hold political officeholders accountable. “I can assure Nigerians that the EFCC will diligently work to reduce, if not eradicate, corruption and ensure political leaders are held accountable for their management of public resources intended to improve the lives of Nigerians,” he stated.
Olukoyede reiterated, “In fulfilling my duties as a public servant, I am not engaged in any witch-hunting. My efforts are solely directed towards realizing President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s strategic plans for a better Nigeria.”
