Iran Threatens To Confront Israel Over planned Attack On Lebanon

Iran issued a stern warning on Saturday, stating that it and its regional allies, collectively known as the “Resistance Fronts,” would confront Israel if it launched an attack on Lebanon. This warning was delivered by Iran’s mission to New York amid escalating tensions and fears of a broader regional conflict involving Israel and Lebanon’s Iran-backed Hezbollah group.

Both sides have been exchanging fire almost daily since the conflict in Gaza erupted, with rhetoric intensifying recently. Israel’s military announced that plans for an offensive in Lebanon had been “approved and validated,” prompting a fierce response from Hezbollah, which warned that no part of Israel would be safe in a full-scale war.

Iran’s mission dismissed Israel’s threats as psychological warfare but cautioned that any full-scale military aggression would lead to a devastating war, involving all members of the Resistance Fronts.

The Gaza conflict started in October following an attack on southern Israel by Hamas militants. While Iran supports Hamas and praised the attack, it has denied any direct involvement.

In addition to Hezbollah’s assaults on northern Israel, Iran-backed groups in Yemen have targeted commercial vessels in the Red Sea, claiming these actions are in solidarity with Palestinians. Iran also supports several other regional groups.

Since the 1979 revolution, Iran has not recognized Israel. Tensions peaked in April when an airstrike destroyed Iran’s consulate in Damascus, killing seven Revolutionary Guards, including two generals. Iran retaliated with a significant drone and missile strike on Israel on April 13-14.

Subsequent explosions in Iran’s Isfahan province were reported by state media, while American sources indicated that Israel had carried out retaliatory strikes. However, Tehran downplayed the significance of these reported attacks.
