How One-Chance Robbers Using Aboniki Balm To Rob Victims were Arrested At Airport

Police operatives from the Lagos State Command have arrested three “one chance” robbers who used Aboniki balm to incapacitate their victims along Airport Road. The suspects, Tunde Dosumu (33), Shola Moses (50), and Amaechi Ugochukwu (46), were apprehended after incidents on June 3rd and 11th, 2024, near Murtala Muhammed International Airport.

Reports indicate that the suspects would apply Aboniki balm to their victims’ eyes before robbing them. Their actions were reported to the Police at Airport Division, who subsequently tracked and arrested the trio. They were detained and interrogated at the station, where evidence led to charges of conspiracy, assault, and robbery being filed against them at the Ogba Magistrate Court.

Among the victims were Mrs. Chidiebere Bernadette Chima, Daniel Mary Omowumi, and Juliet Ajuka, who were robbed of items including phones, bags, wallets, laptops, earrings, and watches.

During their court appearance, the suspects pleaded not guilty. The prosecutor, Supol Akeem Raji, requested a hearing date to allow the police to present evidence of the alleged crimes. The presiding magistrate, Mrs. B.O. Osunsanmi, granted bail to the suspects with conditions, including the provision of sureties who must demonstrate evidence of livelihood and tax payment. The court will verify the addresses of the sureties.

The case was adjourned for mention, and the defendants were remanded in custody at the Kirikiri Correctional Center in Lagos until they fulfill their bail conditions.
