Ondo Monarch Urges Youths to Embrace Agriculture Over Protests

The Alafin of Afin Akoko in the Akoko Northwest local government area, Oba Abdur Raheem Mustapha Adejoro, has called on youths to focus on food production rather than participating in the planned nationwide protests.
Oba Adejoro highlighted that the rising cost of food items has prompted many public workers and artisans within his domain to start cultivating crops on available land. He appealed to the youth to join this movement towards massive food production rather than engaging in protests.
The monarch advised young people to plant cassava, maize, and other arable crops, emphasizing that farming can provide a sustainable income compared to the elusive white-collar jobs.
Speaking from his palace, Oba Adejoro also urged landowners to allocate land for farming to help boost food production. “I call on the government to kindly provide farm implements and inputs at subsidized prices to enable youths to afford them. The involvement of everyone in farming is the surest way to bring down the skyrocketing prices of food items in the market,”
he said.
