APC Headquarters in Jigawa Set on Fire Amid Hunger Protests

In a dramatic escalation of unrest, the headquarters of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) in Jigawa State was set ablaze during a wave of protests over food insecurity. The incident occurred in Dutse, the state capital, where disgruntled youths launched a violent assault on the APC secretariat.
Protesters demolished billboards and other promotional materials before igniting the building, reflecting deepening frustration over widespread hunger and economic challenges. Vehicles parked at the facility were also destroyed in the melee.
The unrest quickly spread to other areas of the state. In Birnin Kudu, where several individuals were injured, looters vandalized and raided the State Fertilizer Store and Grains Store. The state Agricultural Supply Company (JASCO) in Gumel was similarly targeted.
Additionally, the homes of key political figures, including the House of Representatives member for Gumel, Gagarawa, and Maigarati, and the APC Zonal Vice Chairman, were attacked by the mob. Security forces struggled to control the escalating violence, highlighting the severe discontent gripping the region.
