Reno Omokri Calls Out Daily Trust for Misleading Information on Presidential Jet Costs

Dear Daily Trust,

Reno Omokri

I urge you to fact-check the information you’ve presented regarding President Tinubu’s new jet. You have notably omitted key details that provide important context.

Firstly, the U.S. has commissioned a new Air Force One from Boeing at a cost of $3.9 billion—over 300 times more than Nigeria’s new Presidential Jet. Moreover, maintaining the current Air Force One, which President Biden uses, incurs costs of $177,843 per hour and $2,964 per minute, amounting to more annually than the $100 million spent by Nigeria on its new jet.

Additionally, it’s important to mention that the Presidential Aircraft involved in the crash that killed President Ebrahim Raisi of Iran was an older model, yet it was maintained more effectively than Nigeria’s previous jets.

Your reporting seems to selectively present information and lacks full transparency. This pattern of undermining Southern Presidents, as seen with Obasanjo and Jonathan, contrasts sharply with the leniency shown towards President Buhari during his tenure.

What is the objective behind such biased reporting? Is there an agenda to discredit President Tinubu? I hope not.
