John Cena, the renowned actor and WWE star, has candidly shared his perspective on parenthood, revealing that he doesn’t envision himself ever being “ready” to become a father. Cena, who is married to Shay Shariatzadeh, has expressed a deep commitment to his own personal goals and ambitions, which he feels would be incompatible with the demands of parenting.

In an interview on the ‘Club Shay Shay’ podcast, Cena explained that his drive and focus on his own pursuits lead him to believe that he would not be able to dedicate the necessary time and energy to be a great parent. He stated, “I have a certain curiosity about life and recognize the substantial investment required for parenting. Despite my efforts to approach life with kindness and curiosity, I don’t think I’m personally ready, nor will I ever be, to commit the time needed for effective parenting.”

Cena also revealed that he and Shay Shariatzadeh have had thorough discussions about the possibility of raising a family. He described these early conversations as “uncomfortable” but essential for building a strong foundation in their relationship. Cena noted, “We had these critical discussions very early on, even as early as our first or second dates. It was beneficial because it allowed us to address these important topics and establish a clear path forward as a couple.”

Reflecting on his readiness for fatherhood, Cena admitted in a 2022 interview on ‘The Drew Barrymore Show’ that he does not feel “qualified” or passionate about being a parent. He emphasized that personal aptitude alone is not enough to justify parenthood. “Just because someone might be good at something doesn’t mean they should pursue it,” he said. “One must have a genuine passion and drive for it.”
