FUNAAB Demands Justice for Christianah Idowu’s Murder

The Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta (FUNAAB), has called on the police to accelerate the investigation into the murder of Christianah Idowu, a 300-level student in Pure and Applied Botany.

In a statement issued on Friday by Olasunkanmi Olajide, the Acting Head of the Directorate of Public Relations, the university condemned the violence and urged the Nigeria Police Force to ensure prompt justice.

“This act of violence must not go unanswered. We urge the Nigeria Police Force to speed up their investigation and ensure that justice is served without delay,” the statement read.

The university expressed deep sorrow over Idowu’s abduction and murder in Ikorodu, Lagos State, and stated that the entire institution is grieving this tragic loss. The university emphasized that those responsible must be held accountable.

Olajide also noted that a university delegation, including Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Academic) Prof. Olukayode Akinyemi and Student Union President Ibraheem Adeyemi, visited Idowu’s family on Friday to offer their condolences.

The statement added, “The university management stands in solidarity with her family, friends, and all who were touched by her life.”

On Thursday, the Lagos State Police Command announced the arrest of Ayomide Adeleye, a 23-year-old suspect linked to the kidnapping and murder of Idowu. Police Public Relations Officer Benjamin Hundeyin confirmed the arrest in a brief update on social media.
