PDP Dominates Akwa Ibom Council Elections; APC Claims Victory in Akpabio’s Constituency
In the recent local government elections held on October 5, 2024, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) achieved a sweeping victory in Akwa Ibom State, securing 30 out of the 31 chairmanship positions available. This information was confirmed by the Akwa Ibom State Independent Electoral Commission (AKISIEC) in a statement released on Sunday.
The All Progressives Congress (APC) managed to win the only remaining local government area. With the election results finalized, the newly elected chairmen and their deputies are scheduled to be sworn in on Monday, October 7, 2024.
The swearing-in ceremony will commence at 8 am at the Banquet Hall of the Government House in Uyo, officiated by Governor Umo Eno alongside distinguished guests.
APC Triumphs in Akpabio’s Local Government Area
In a notable outcome, Usoro Ntiedo Effiong of the APC has been declared the winner of the local government elections in Essien Udim LGA, a region known as the home of Senate President Godswill Akpabio. This victory is a significant boost for the APC in the area, reinforcing its influence in Akwa Ibom State.
