This decision comes after the recent hints of resignation from Sahle-Work Zewde, the nation’s first female head of state, who alluded to her departure in a social media post just two days prior.

Selassie’s election was confirmed during a joint session of the House of Federation and the House of Peoples’ Representatives in Addis Ababa.
