The All Progressives Congress (APC) Chairman in Oriade Local Government Area, Hon. Olasunkanmi Ogunsanya, has advised the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Osun State to prepare for defeat ahead of the 2026 governorship election. He believes that such preparation will help them cope with the reality of a likely loss.

Hon. Ogunsanya made the remark in response to a recent gathering of PDP supporters at the party’s office in Biket Area, Osogbo, where they expressed continued support for Governor Ademola Nurudeen Jackson Adeleke. The APC chairman dismissed the event as insignificant, referring to it as a “kangaroo declaration,” and criticized the governor’s performance as underwhelming.

He particularly urged PDP supporters in Ijesa North to reassess their loyalty to Governor Adeleke, claiming that blind allegiance to a leader who has failed to bring substantial progress would hurt the state’s future.

Ogunsanya’s remarks follow a recent public statement by Hon. Wole Oke, a respected member of the House of Representatives and influential PDP figure in Osun State. Oke had voiced his dissatisfaction with Governor Adeleke’s administration on social media, highlighting what he saw as the governor’s failure to deliver for the people.

“If even members of his own party, like Hon. Wole Oke, are openly criticizing his leadership, it is evident that Governor Adeleke does not deserve another term in office,” Ogunsanya stated.

The APC chairman reiterated his party’s determination to win the 2026 governorship election by offering competent leadership and good governance. He called on the people of Osun State, particularly those loyal to the PDP, to prioritize the state’s progress over party allegiance, expressing confidence that the APC’s vision for the future would resonate with voters.
