We’re Committed to Securing Victory for Tinubu in Lagos Come 2027 – Rep Ogbara

House of Representatives member, Kafilat Adetola Ogbara, has pledged that the All Progressives Congress (APC) is determined to ensure President Bola Ahmed Tinubu secures a win in Lagos during the 2027 presidential election—unlike the outcome in 2023.
Speaking during a media interview, the Kosofe Constituency representative emphasized that the party has already begun laying the groundwork to prevent a repeat of Tinubu’s loss in his home state.
In the 2023 presidential race, the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) reported that Labour Party’s Peter Obi garnered 582,130 votes in Lagos, edging out Tinubu who scored 571,575.
Reflecting on the loss, Ogbara said, “The 2023 election was a wake-up call for us in Lagos. It was disheartening to see Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, a political heavyweight who has shaped many leaders, lose in the state he has so strongly influenced. But we’ve learned from that experience, and we’re not waiting until 2027 to act—the work has already begun.”
She highlighted the importance of grassroots politics, noting that success hinges on the caliber of local government officials. “We’re paying close attention to the selection of councilors and chairpersons. Their ability to understand their communities and engage with the electorate will be key in turning the tide.”
Ogbara added, “A councilor must know the terrain—polling units, voter dynamics, and the needs of the people. Without that, they can’t serve effectively or help deliver meaningful results.”
