In a significant political development, the Osun State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has formally endorsed President Bola Ahmed Tinubu as its preferred candidate for the 2027 presidential election, describing him as a “distinguished son of the state.”
The announcement was made by the Osun State Governor following a strategic meeting with the PDP leadership caucus in Osogbo. The meeting reportedly followed weeks of extensive consultations with various stakeholders across the state, including traditional leaders, public servants, market associations, and grassroots party members.
In a public statement, the governor shared the following updates:
> “After a productive meeting with the PDP leadership in Osogbo and after wide-ranging consultations throughout Osun State, I’m pleased to announce the following:
I remain committed to the PDP, the party that gave me the opportunity to serve.
I have received the unanimous backing of the Osun PDP to seek a second term in 2026.
Our party remains the most trusted and widely supported political force in the state.
I will stay focused on delivering results under our Five-Point Agenda with renewed determination.
I’m deeply inspired by the ongoing support from the people of Osun. Together, we keep pushing forward.
“Furthermore, the PDP in Osun has resolved to support President Bola Tinubu’s bid for re-election in 2027, acknowledging him as a notable and respected son of Osun State.”
