Bandits Attack Kwara Village During Prayers, Kill One, Abduct Village Head

A fresh wave of violence struck Rani Ramat village in Patigi Local Government Area of Kwara State on Sunday evening, when armed bandits launched a deadly assault that left one person dead and the community’s leader abducted.
The attack took place at around 6:20 p.m., during the Maghrib (sunset) prayer, as locals gathered at the village mosque. According to reports from NupekoTV-Lafiagi, gunmen on motorcycles stormed the area, firing shots indiscriminately and causing widespread panic.
During the chaos, a resident identified as Alhaji Liman was fatally shot, while the village head, Alhaji Ndako, was forcefully taken away by the attackers to an unknown destination.
Eyewitnesses described the sudden raid as terrifying, stating that the assailants provided no warning before unleashing gunfire across the village, leaving residents in disarray.
This incident adds to the growing security concerns in the Patigi Emirate and across Kwara North, where rural communities have increasingly come under siege from kidnappers and armed gangs.
The Sunday attack follows a string of similar incidents reported in other parts of the state in recent weeks.
