20 LG Workers Die in 11 Months Under Strike Led by Osun NULGE Executives with Expired Tenure

The association of concerned local government workers in Osun State has disclosed that 20 staff lost their lives during the 11-month strike as a result of ailment and lack of social interaction.

 

Assuring that the list of the dead staff shall be made public in no distant time, the state chairman of the group, Adekunle Adedayo, disclosed this in Osogbo, on Sunday, during a press conference jointly addressed with the secretary, Akin Adepoju.

“With total humility and sense of purpose, our association welcomes a fractional striking executives and staff back to the local government after 11 month of needless and politically motivated strike.

“We could recall the Ogungbangbe’s led executives deliberately put the whole Osun Local Government into strike based on security reason to ensuring safety of lives which was later found out that he only volunteered himself to be used as a tool in the hands of politicians in which he was handsomely paid for the job done.

“Lo and behold, almost 20 staff lost their lives during these concocted strike due to one ailment or the other or lack of social interaction. The list of the dead staff shall be made public in no distant time,” the group said.

Noting that the group has been working with the legally reinstated political functionaries at various Local Government areas, the group appreciated security agencies in the state for securing lives and property of their teaming members, saying your level of commitment to duty and total adherence to implementation of lawful judgment of competent court of jurisdiction is highly commendable.

“We, concerned association are bringing to the hearing of the political functionaries headed by the executive chairman in different council areas that on no condition should any staff of Osun State Local Governments parade him or herself as NULGE branch executives due to the fact that their constitutional tenure has expired since month of May, 2025 and three months constitutional provision has also expired. Therefore, preparation for the vacant positions should begin as demanded by our union constitution
