Two Passengers Seriously Hurt as Speeding Bus Crashes Along Oshodi–Oke Route

Two commuters were left critically injured following a road traffic accident involving a commercial bus in the early hours of the day along the Heritage Garden section of the Oshodi–Oke corridor in Lagos State.
The Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA) confirmed the incident, stating that the crash involved a red Tata long commercial bus bearing registration number **MUS 507 XX**.
Preliminary findings by traffic officials indicated that the accident was triggered by excessive speed, causing the bus to collide with a moving truck along the route. The truck reportedly continued its journey after the impact without any noticeable damage, making immediate identification challenging.
LASTMA personnel were swiftly deployed to the scene after receiving distress alerts. Upon arrival, officers discovered two passengers trapped inside the damaged bus with severe injuries.
The victims were rescued by LASTMA officials, who immediately initiated emergency procedures. The Lagos State Ambulance Service (LASAMBUS) was contacted, and the injured passengers received on-site first aid before being rushed to a nearby hospital for further medical attention.
To ensure safety and restore traffic flow along the busy axis, the bus driver was taken into custody for questioning, while the wrecked vehicle was promptly cleared from the road to prevent further accidents and congestion.
Reacting to the incident, LASTMA General Manager, Olalekan Bakare-Oki, expressed concern over the condition of the injured passengers and wished them a quick recovery. He described the crash as preventable and cautioned motorists against reckless driving, emphasizing that over-speeding remains a major contributor to road accidents in Lagos.
