Tragedy in Akwa Ibom: Soldier Allegedly Shoots 13-Year-Old After Confronting Sister’s Harasser

The Nigerian Army has confirmed that it is investigating the death of 13-year-old Timothy Daniel, who was reportedly shot by a soldier attached to a petrochemical company in Ikot Abasi Local Government Area, Akwa Ibom State.
Reports indicate that the incident occurred after Timothy confronted the soldier for allegedly making sexual advances toward his 15-year-old sister, Miracle Daniel. Residents said the siblings were returning home from church around 12:05 a.m. on January 1 when the officer allegedly harassed Miracle and touched her inappropriately.
The situation escalated when Timothy and his sister confronted the soldier verbally, which reportedly prompted the officer to open fire, striking Timothy in the head. The teenager was pronounced dead at the scene.
Confirming the development, the Army Public Relations Officer for 2 Brigade, Mbiokporo, said the case has been handed over to the military police and is currently under investigation.
