E-registration: APC members projected to hit 9m in two weeks – Basiru

The National Working Committee of the All Progressives Congress has expressed optimism that the party would have over 9 million registered members within the first two weeks of the party’s digital membership registration exercise.
The National Secretary of the party, Senator Ajibola Basiru, who spoke on behalf of the National Chairman, Prof. Nentawe Yilwatda, while addressing the press on Monday, said that over 2 million people had already registered in the first week of the exercise.
Basiru said the ongoing registration exercise would allow the party to have data that would be important for operational efficiency.
“Before the end of January, we want all our members to be duly registered. The significance of the registration is underscored by the fact that data is very important for the operational efficiency of any organisation.
“We are happy to inform Nigerians that just a week into the exercise, those who have registered as members of the APC are already over 2 million.
“We envisage that by the time we make another assessment next week, we should have 8-9 million registered members.”
The former lawmaker tasked coordinators of the exercise across the state to be up and doing, warning that any coordinator found lagging would be removed.
“Any state that is found lagging, the National Working Committee has been given the latitude to change the coordinator of such state,” Basiru said
He also “urged stakeholders across the states to take this exercise very seriously”, adding that it “serves as the root to ensuring that we have an organic party that is in sync with mobilising Nigerians for the support of the Renewed Hope Agenda of President Bola Tinubu.”
