OSUN 2026: AMBO’S VICTORY TRAIN GATHERS SPEED AS FORMER GOVERNOR, OYINLOLA, AKINLABI, AKINBADE, OLADIPO, OTHERS PDP/ACCORD ENDORSE HIM

Says AMBO’s 7-Point Prosperity Agenda Will Lead Osun to Economic Prosperity

The Osun State APC Governorship Campaign Council has welcomed the endorsement of the APC governorship candidate, Asiwaju Munirudeen Bola Oyebamiji (AMBO), by former Governor of Osun State, Prince Olagunsoye Oyinlola, describing the development as a major boost to the growing movement for a new direction in the state.

The Campaign Council also acknowledged the decision of several political heavyweights and prominent leaders from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Accord and other political tendencies to support the AMBO project, including former Senator representing Osun West, Senator Olasunkanmi Akinlabi; former Secretary to the Osun State Government, Alhaji Fatai Akinbade; and former National Vice Chairman of the PDP and Oluomo of Osogboland, Alhaji Tajudeen Oladipo.

The Council said the development was a clear indication that the August 15 governorship election is no longer about partisan politics alone, but about rescuing Osun State from an administration that has lost the confidence of citizens across political divides.

Prince Olagunsoye Oyinlola, a retired Army Brigadier-General who served as Military Administrator of Lagos State from 1993 to 1996 and as civilian Governor of Osun State from 2003 to 2010, was one of the major political figures who supported Senator Ademola Adeleke during the 2022 governorship election.

However, according to the Campaign Council, Prince Oyinlola has since become openly critical of the Adeleke administration, describing the governor as incompetent and unreliable and expressing concern over the direction of governance in the state.

In his latest position, Prince Oyinlola said Governor Adeleke had failed to fulfil his electoral promises to the people of Osun, warning that allowing the governor another term could spell doom for the state.

The former governor endorsed AMBO as an Omoluabi who, he said, possesses the character, competence and vision required to fulfil the lofty aspirations of the people of Osun.

He expressed confidence that AMBO’s 7-Point Prosperity Agenda would reposition the state and place it on the path of sustainable economic prosperity.

The Campaign Council said Oyinlola’s position was particularly significant because it demonstrated that even those who once supported the incumbent administration had become concerned about its performance and direction.

The Council further quoted Oyinlola as describing the Adeleke administration as a “voodoo government”, where government actions, policies and financial dealings are shrouded in secrecy.

The Campaign Council said it was particularly disturbing that the administration had failed to provide citizens with adequate and timely information on the implementation of the state budget.

According to the Council, the concealment of budget implementation figures for 2026 raises serious questions about transparency and accountability in the management of public resources.

The Council therefore called on the people of Osun to embrace AMBO’s vision of an open, accountable and development-oriented government.

AMBO has consistently stated that his administration will focus heavily on education, healthcare, agriculture, women and youth empowerment, wealth creation and industrialisation, while making transparency and accountability the foundation of governance.

He has also promised that government resources will be deployed equitably across all parts of the state, irrespective of senatorial district, local government, political affiliation or religious background.

The APC candidate has further pledged to restore professionalism to public infrastructure delivery, insisting that road construction contracts under his administration will be awarded only to competent and qualified contractors with the technical capacity to execute them.

He has criticised the practice under the Adeleke administration of awarding road contracts to vulcanizers, interior decorators, clearing and forwarding agents, cybercafé operators, fashion designers and fertilizer distributors.

The Council also noted that Prince Oyinlola is the third former Governor of Osun State to openly back AMBO, following the earlier endorsements by former Governors Chief Bisi Akande and Alhaji Adegboyega Oyetola. Osun since 1999 has produced four former governors.

It described the convergence of former governors, serving and former legislators, former political office holders and leaders from different political parties around AMBO as evidence of a broad movement for change in Osun State.

The Council called on the people of Osun to vote massively for Asiwaju Munirudeen Bola Oyebamiji (AMBO) and the All Progressives Congress (APC) on August 15, saying that the time has come to put Osun firmly on the path of economic prosperity.
