Breaking news: Everton transfer update emerges on Alisson and Junior …
Everton are not currently interested in Junior Dina Ebimbe or Alisson Santana, according to Shamoon Hafez.
The BBC Sport reporter wrote via X (20 August) that the club are close to re-signing Asmir Begovic.
Everton had reportedly enquired about the availability of Dina Ebimbe (via Fabrice Hawkins, 19 August) while they were said to have made an offer to sign Alisson (via Pedro Faria, 19 August).
However, Hafez has reported there is no interest in either player.
Everton to sign Alisson Santana and Junior Dina Ebimbe?
The more optimistic supporters at Goodison Park will likely choose to believe the overnight reports rather than Hafez’s update.
However, considering Hafez’s reliable reputation, it would be difficult to ignore what is ultimately a rather underwhelming transfer update for the Toffees.
It appears as though the club are close to signing an ageing goalkeeper, who in all fairness is not the most exciting addition to the squad. However, when it comes to talk of signing a young midfielder or talented 18-year-old forward, there is nothing in those rumours.
That is yet another frustrating blow for Everton fans after what was already an underwhelming start to their brand-new Premier League campaign.
While the club do still need to of course work within their financial restraints, bringing in a 37-year-old goalkeeper on a free signing isn’t exactly going to help any potential relegation battle.
Begovic has experience, but Sean Dyche needs a lot more than that this season it seems.
In other Everton news, the club must speed up a deal for a brand-new signing after Fabrizio Romano shared a “crucial” update.
