Governor Bala Mohammed Removes Bauchi Health Commissioner; Give Reasons

Bauchi State Governor Bala Mohammed has dismissed Adamu Sambo from his role as the State Commissioner for Health. The announcement was made during the swearing-in ceremony for three new commissioners and a new Chief Security Adviser.

In his address, Governor Mohammed also revealed plans to eliminate the position of Commissioner for the Ministry of Local Government. This change follows the death of the previous commissioner, Ahmed Jalam, in a car accident last June, as well as the introduction of new local government legislation.

Additionally, two commissioners have resigned to pursue local government chairperson roles, and the Chief Security Adviser has been relieved of their duties.

Governor Mohammed stated, “The appointment of new commissioners aims to ensure fair representation for each local government in our cabinet, in line with constitutional requirements. We are also eliminating the Commissioner for Local Government position to streamline governance, reduce costs, and comply with the Supreme Court’s local government ruling.”

Dr. Sani Dambam has been appointed as the new Commissioner for Health, taking over from Dr. Sambo. Governor Mohammed clarified that the decision to remove Dr. Sambo was a strategic move rather than a reflection of performance issues, expressing his best wishes for Sambo’s future.

The Governor also announced the appointments of Zainab Babbatanka as Commissioner for Women Affairs, Engr. Mohammed Abdulkadir as Commissioner for Commerce, and Dr. Ahmed Abdurrahman as Chief Secur

ity Adviser.
