Governor Zulum Distributes Rice and Aid to Borno Residents

The Borno State government has distributed twenty truckloads of rice, procured by the federal government, to alleviate the difficulties caused by rising food prices and other essential needs.

Governor Babagana Umara Zulum personally oversaw the distribution in Monguno, reaching 35,000 beneficiaries. The effort was supported by Senator Muhammad Tahir Monguno, who represents Northern Borno, and other government officials.

Monguno Local Government, which hosts internally displaced persons from several areas affected by insurgency, was chosen for the distribution due to its significant need. Each male beneficiary received a 25kg bag of rice, and also a 10kg bag of cowpeas, intended to support their participation in this year’s farming season.

In addition, 45,000 female residents received clothing materials and 10,000 naira each, as part of the state government’s financial inclusion initiative.

Governor Zulum praised the Tinubu administration for its ongoing support and announced that the state had also received ninety trucks of fertilizer for distribution to farmers, aimed at boosting national food production.

During his visit to Monguno, Governor Zulum inspected the ongoing construction of a Dental and Eye Hospital and the School of Nursing. He expressed satisfaction with the progress and quality of work, urging the contractors to expedite the projects. The Governor also pledged to recruit additional personnel to enhance the services provided by these new facilities.
