The Adamawa State Police Command has apprehended 37-year-old Fatima Abubakar for allegedly abusing a two-year-old girl and a young boy in her care after they urinated on her bed.
Fatima, a resident of Sanda, Makama B ward in Yola South LGA, was arrested for physically assaulting the children due to incidents of urination and defecation in her home. As the stepmother of the children, she reportedly subjected them to severe punishment and denied them food, despite neighbors’ concerns.
Reports indicated that Fatima had previously warned neighbors against interfering in her treatment of the kids. Following a tip-off from community members, the police acted and arrested her on Saturday.
Police Public Relations Officer SP Suleiman Yahaya Nguroje confirmed the arrest and stated that Commissioner of Police Morris Dankombo has instructed that the case be forwarded to court for prosecution.
