Maguire: How I’m Committed to Manchester United’s Future

Manchester United defender Harry Maguire has affirmed his commitment to the club’s future, expressing his determination to help restore its former glory. Speaking to Sky Sports News, Maguire shared his confidence in the club’s plans, emphasizing his role in their long-term vision. “Everything I’ve heard and seen from the club indicates that I’m a key part of the future,” he said. “It’s time to push forward and bring success back, competing for major trophies. That’s what this club expects.”

Despite facing challenges last season, including injuries that limited his appearances, Maguire remains optimistic. He played 22 Premier League matches, helping the team through a series of defensive setbacks. The season culminated in a triumphant FA Cup final win against Manchester City at Wembley, a high point for Erik ten Hag’s squad.

Maguire, 31, had his season cut short due to injury, missing the final games and the Euro 2024 tournament. However, he is eager to return stronger, having been assured of his importance to the team’s future. When asked about his commitment to staying at Old Trafford, Maguire stated, “Unless the club tells me otherwise, I’m here to stay.”
Reflecting on his injury struggles, Maguire admitted it was a challenging period. “It was probably the toughest moment in my career,” he revealed. “I worked hard all year to be ready for the season’s end, to play in big games and tournaments, and to face an injury setback was tough.”
Looking ahead, Maguire is excited for the new season under Ten Hag, who recently extended his contract until 2026. The manager’s position was uncertain at the end of the season, but the club’s decision to retain him, along with new additions to the coaching staff like Ruud van Nistelrooy and Rene Hake, has boosted morale. “The manager handled the media scrutiny well, and our performance in the cup final was a testament to his and the staff’s efforts,” Maguire said. “We are all looking forward to a successful season.”
