UAE Imposes New Visa Rules: Only Nigerians Over 45 with N16 Million in Bank Can Apply; Give Reasons
The United Arab Emirates (UAE) has introduced new visa regulations for Nigerian nationals, stating that only those aged 45 or older are eligible to apply for a visa. Additionally, applicants must have a substantial bank balance.
Under the updated guidelines, Nigerian travelers must demonstrate a minimum bank balance of $10,000 (approximately N16 million) to qualify for either a 30-day or 60-day visa. Applicants are required to provide a six-month bank statement showing a closing balance of at least $10,000 each month, along with a confirmed return ticket on Emirates Airlines.
Other requirements include proof of a confirmed hotel booking and a valid residence permit from the applicant’s current country of residence.
These measures follow a diplomatic dispute between Nigeria and the UAE that began in September 2022, which had previously restricted Nigerian visits to the UAE. The visa restrictions have now been lifted following recent negotiations.
