Peter Obi Warns: No One Is Safe From Kidnapping in Nigeria – We Can’t Let the Country Descend Into Chaos Peter Obi, the Labour Party’s presidential candidate in the recent election, has expressed concern over the rising rate of criminal activities, particularly kidnappings, across Nigeria. He described the situation as increasingly alarming. Obi’s comments came in response to the recent abduction of two Catholic reverend sisters by armed assailants. The sisters were kidnapped along Ufuma Road in Orumba North Local Government Area, Anambra State, on Tuesday. The former governor of Anambra State also condemned the killing of the Manager of the College of Nursing Sciences, Ihiala. He emphasized that no one is safe from the wave of kidnappings and murders sweeping through many parts of the country. “Every Nigerian is feeling the effects of this insecurity, which is disrupting all sectors of our society,” Obi said. “Farmers are being driven off their land, while workers in health and education are targeted for abduction or worse.” He pointed out the ongoing abductions and killings of key professionals such as farmers, teachers, and university staff. “Just recently, the Manager of the College of Nursing Sciences in Ihiala was murdered. And yesterday, two reverend sisters who contribute significantly to education and healthcare in Anambra State were kidnapped.” Obi emphasized that these individuals are making vital contributions to national progress, especially in rural communities, and argued that there is no justification for these acts of violence. “This dangerous situation requires immediate attention from our leadership,” he added. “If the kidnappings and killings we hear about are already this numerous, how many more are occurring without being reported?” Obi concluded by urging the government to take stronger action, using all available resources to end the crisis and ensure the safe release of those held captive.
